Background
Trello ResumeCapture was a design activity that was meant to demonstrate speed and efficiency in providing assets and well executed designs. The top priority, however, was to create an effective workflow that met user requirements as stated below.
Problem Statement
The end user is designer looking for new employment. They have crafted every word and phrase of their resume and spent a great deal of time designing the layout. When they try to upload their specialized resume into a job application system it creates a jumbled mess. It ruins their layout, and it usually breaks the context of their content, leading to a lot of rework and frustration.
ResumeCapture is a small utility that will help users take print format resumes and convert them into a consumable format for recruiting management software. It takes the rework out of posting their designer resume online.
The Task
Redesign an online recruiting system that has a frustrating resume import function.
Target User:
Designers who generally have non-standard resume formats.
Target Device:
UI designs should be tailored for desktop/laptop screen sizes.
Target Brand:
Trello branding - though their product was not related, they have a well established look/feel. The final UI designs followed the Trello branding style guide.
The Deliverable
A good workflow and user journey through the application was important in addition to the production and communication of the visual design of the UI. The deliverable was a pixel-perfect design of the UI, demonstrating a moment in time during the user’s journey through this hypothetical application.
